Our Story

Co-founders of The Paint Club Alice and John

Welcome to The Paint Club! We're Alice and John, the founders of The Paint Club.

We first met at university, where John was studying Fine Art and Alice was studying Design. A few years later, in 2015, we had a simple idea: what if we could bring people together to paint, relax and have fun, regardless of their artistic experience?

In February 2016, we hosted our very first paint and sip night with a group of friends at a cosy pub in Eton. It was such a success that it quickly became a regular event. Looking back, we've certainly refined things over the years. Gone are the heavy wooden easels and giant stretched canvases that made every event feel like a workout before we'd even started.

From the very beginning, our goal has been to make painting accessible, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone. We love seeing people discover a creative side they never knew they had and leave with far more confidence than when they arrived.

We welcomed our first team member in 2017, and since then The Paint Club has grown from the two of us into a wonderful team of more than 40 artists, hosting over 100 paint and sip events every month and teaching around 25,000 people each year. Many of our artists are people we've met along the journey who share our passion for creativity, kindness and bringing people together.

Today you'll find The Paint Club events across the UK, from Bangor in North Wales to Brighton on the South Coast, with new venues joining us every year.

The most rewarding part of what we do is still the same as it was at our very first event. Seeing someone step back from their canvas, smile, and say, "I didn't think I could do that." In just two hours, people don't just create a painting to take home. They leave with a sense of achievement, a little more confidence, a calmer mind and memories made with friends. That's what The Paint Club has always been about.

We know how to host the
perfect painting workshop

With artists across the South of England, The Midlands, East Anglia, the North West and North Wales. The Paint Club run virtual, in-person and hybrid sip and paint events. Since our first event in Feb 2016 we have hosted and organised thousands of painting parties for hen parties, birthday parties, and team events for some of the world's leading companies.

Painting, whether virtual or in person, is a wonderful way to relax and unwind from the hustle & bustle of everyday life. It can be enjoyed solo or with friends. Being creative relaxes the mind, and is good for the soul.

All online and in person classes are taught by a professional artist who will guide you through the painting, step by step from blank canvas to work of art. By the end of the class you will have your very own painting masterpiece! The Paint Club is best enjoyed with a drink in hand, so choose your favourite beverage and get creative. Just one thing, don’t sip the paint water....

The perfect team building event

Why not try a painting event at home or in your office?

We will be happy to sort out a private event for you including delivering all the painting materials you need:

How does a Paint Club work?

Virtually and in person, the format of The Paint Club is exactly the same. Everyone follows instruction from a professional artist to achieve a stunning artwork they can take home at the end. Of course if creativity strikes you can go rogue and create anything you like!

What do I need to bring with me?

Just yourself! We provide all of the materials including the paint, canvas, brushes and apron incase you get a little too vigorous with the brush. If you are painting online and from home, we can provide you with everything you need in our Paint Kits: https://www.thepaintclub.co.uk/shop

Do you do private painting parties?

Yes! We run private paint and sip parties for a range of different occasions. The following can be run online or a venue of your choice:

  • Corporate team building activities

  • Birthday parties

  • Children’s birthday parties

  • Hen parties

  • Private painting classes

  • Team building events

  • Bespoke art events

  • Baby showers

As with an online paint party Paint Club, we provide all of the set-up materials and equipment. If you would like to book us for a private event or party, send us an email: hello@thepaintclub.co.uk

How long is a class?

Around 90 to 120 minutes. Of course we can make this shorter or extend if you would like to build it around your party - if you have catering for example. Virtual paint and sip events tend to run from 50 minutes to 90 minutes depending on your requirements.

Do you offer private painting lessons?

We don't run 1-1 sessions but our artists who run sessions for The Paint Club are all professional artists who offer varying levels of teaching. We can put you in touch with an artist who will be best suited to your needs and ability. We can support your private event, hen do or private lesson throughout England including London.

If you are interested in having private painting lessons or a more bespoke art course then send us an email: hello@thepaintclub.co.uk

No matter the venue, our painting classes are always fun!
